DRAFT OF CONGRESS
New digital technologies are influencing and amended many micro-sectors in view of the Cultural Heritage. From Conservation to fruition, various are the tools and methodologies addressed in Italy and in the World for a more innovative public management of cultural heritage. The digital revolution that is currently taking place, especially in communication technologies does not follow necessarily that infrastructure which may indeed be a valid alternative. Same potential can cover more disadvantaged or less accessible cultural centres. Today the digital development is not well coordinated and integrated in the Country. It is essential to launch a new standardized process, in which local realities must acquire new know how, resources and tools.
Thursday 13 March at 9.00 am will be held at the Conference Hall of the Provincial Library of Matera in Piazza Vittorio Veneto , the National Conference "Cultural Digital", edited by Domenico Bennardi, promoted and produced by Artedata in collaboration with the Provincial Library of Matera.
The conference is proposed as an opportunity for comparison, analysis and depth about new digital technologies applied to the cultural heritage sector and, in particular, in the field of books stored at institutions both public and private.

OBJECTIVES OF CONGRESS ARE:
1) Defining the situation in the region of Basilicata and in south of Italy, about the management, use and conservation of cultural property in general, and of library property in particular, through the instruments of Information & Communication Technology.
2) Locate the potential offered by ICT applications in the management and enhancement of cultural value of international importance.
3) Compare the main methods, problems and solutions adopted in the national scene for the management and cataloguing of books, on the part of public and private entities.
4) Identify innovative new forms of revenue in the management of public cultural heritage: e-learning, e-commerce, e-government, Internet / intranet and web marketing.
5) deal with the problems and prospects concerning the training and job opportunities of the ICT sector for books;
6) Create through online FORUM, a permanent comparison tool between actors and working in the field of conservation, development and use of cultural heritage in all of Southern Italy and in particular in Basilicata.
